I used a laser cutter to carve out each piece and a hand wood-burner to depict the landmark chosen for the inside design. Each piece falls into one of the five following categories/resources, all of which are located in La Jolla: Mexican restaurants, random pools of water, places that should be repaired or remodeled, a specific group of people, or expensive businesses.
Wood, brick, ore, wheat, and sheep, are instead replaced by tacos, fish or other sea creatures that can be found snorkeling in La Jolla, trash, persons, or boujee items. The sea tiles that encompass the resource tiles are represented by the most well-known beaches in La Jolla. Development cards are also customized – birds instead of knights, trolley line instead of road builder, etc.
Settlements and cities are made from clay.
The most infamous robbers in La Jolla are the seagulls or crows – THE BIRD.
